Sonicwall Cloud Security Breach

Impact from Sonicwall breach in September 2025

Updated yesterday

On October 8th, 2025, SonicWall concluded its investigation into an incident affecting MySonicWall configuration backup files.

The company confirmed that all customers who used the cloud backup service may have had configuration files exposed, potentially including unencrypted credentials, VPN keys, and other sensitive network data. While newer Gen-7 firewalls encrypt stored credentials, older models do not, meaning exposed backups could allow unauthorized access to networks if misused. SonicWall has provided detailed remediation guidance, urging users to rotate credentials, review access logs, and secure affected configurations. We leverage newer Gen-7 firewalls.

On October 9th, Sonicwall reached out to us to review our firewall configurations and confirmed that the Kolbe Sonicwall firewalls have not been breached. After reviewing SonicWall’s findings with a third party and conducting our own internal assessment, we have verified that our firewall and infrastructure remain unaffected by this incident.

We have started our standard protocols for this kind of situation and have begun the process of resetting all security credentials and keys associated with the Sonicwall devices for completion as soon as possible.

We will continue to monitor the situation and devices for any updates related to this breach.
